Andy Reid Pressuring Patrick Mahomes At Chiefs mini camp over behind-the-back pass

Patrick Mahomes is always looking for new ways to gain an edge over his opponents.

So it was no surprise when the Kansas City Chiefs social media team shared a video of the quarterback throwing a behind-the-back pass for a touchdown during a recent practice. Of course, one thing is doing it in practice and another would be in a real game setting.

Mahomes loves to improvise outside of the pocket, but pulling off that kind of pass in a game that counts is too risky. Andy Reid wants Patrick Mahomes to attempt trick pass in NFL game At least, according to Mahomes himself. Per the Kansas City Star, Mahomes says he is the main reason that it hasn't been done before.

Mahomes revealed that head coach Andy Reid has actually called a play during a game in which Mahomes would throw a pass like that, but Mahomes simply refuses to do it. He knows one slight mistake could end up costing his team the game, and he won't allow himself to be the reason.

It's another show of leadership from the best quarterback in the NFL. Despite frequently getting the headlines just by playing well and winning games, Mahomes doesn't care for more media attention by trying that type of play in a real game.
