More Evidence Of Royal Brothers’ Feud: UK Media Pore Over Duke’s Wedding Guest List

UK media is spending another weekend poring over the invitation list of “the society wedding of the year” with reports that Prince William is set for a high-profile role with his son George also set to feature, while his brother Prince Harry will be binning his invitation, and their father King Charles’s attendance remains unconfirmed.

The Duke of Westminster – aka Hugh Grosvenor, the 33-year-old owner of an inherited £9.3bn ($11.8bn) – is set to walk down the aisle with his bride Olivia Henson on June 7.

He has the delicate position of being friends with both princes William and Harry, and godfather to both their sons. The Daily Mail reports that Prince William is set to be an usher at the wedding where 400 guests are expected, while his brother Harry will skip the event, despite his close friendship with Grosvenor, whom he made godfather to his son Archie.

Many of the UK weekend papers have speculated on the fact that Harry is keen not to let royal family tensions overshadow his friend’s big day, and interpreted this mark of just how deep the chasm between the two brothers continues to be. UK media is also speculating that Harry is not happy about William’s prominent role at the ceremony.

William’s son George is Grosvenor’s godson, and also set to have a role at the event. Meanwhile, King Charles, who is Grosvenor’s godfather, is still undergoing cancer treatment, and is not yet confirmed to attend the event with Queen Camilla.

Charles plans to travel to France on June 8, ahead of a service to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.
